The Item Manager is an EC GearBox plug-in, allowing you to maintain a catalog of items that you trade using EDI. Item Management helps you to synchronize item information between you and your customer working silently as a part of your integrated EDI environment cross-referencing, and extending the item information in your EDI transactions. Item cross referencing allows the enhancement of product information and extended definitions, such as item weights, volumes and the country of origin and that enhanced information is reflected automatically in all screens and reports.
The Item Manager can also be tuned to validate Purchase Order items, holding back items not found in the cross reference. Invalid items are held for further investigation while valid items pick up extended attributes and even match them with the correct UPC codes. New items can have a UPC code assigned automatically or have a pre-generated UPC attached. With full item import capability, you can easily pass items from other systems into Item Management.
With the Item Manager in place, a customer can transit their own specific item number to you and Gearbox will automatically cross reference the customer’s item numbers to yours. All of this and more is accessible through Item Management for EC Gearbox.
